Hello Brothers and Sisters,

The Urban Voodoo Machine have been nominated for “Best New Band” in the Classic Rock Magazine's Roll Of Honours Award 2010. (yes, we are not exactly a new band with our 7 years behind us, but all the nominees in this category have released their debut album in the last 12 months)
Six gongs will be handed to acts chosen by YOU at London’s Roundhouse on November 10, hosted by Alice Cooper.

awards logo

This is a big deal for us as we are a small independant band, releasing our debut album on our own label. Unlike other bands in the category we have no major label backing to push us, just the goodwill and support of all the fans who love our music. So please get voting for us people, and while you're at it do it at your friend's house, do it in your parents' bedroom, do it at an internet cafe. Just do it!!!

Make sure you click through to the end of the categories, even if you don't want to vote on them, to submit your vote (i failed first time and had to go back and do it again)

Cheers,
Lucifire and the rest of THE URBAN VOODOO MACHINE

The Urban Voodoo Machine , Lady Ane Angel, Lalla Morte, dj Scratchy, Nigel Burch, Vicky Butterfly,, Big Gray & Razor, Anil Desai & Squirell Skin Slippers all hope to see you at the Lexington this Saturday!

A rare night out in London town for me. Have been a bit of a recluse since getting knocked up. As well as all the fine acts on the bill, you also get to see my rather impressive bump.

Isn't it beautiful? Our new T-Shirt design was created for our newest, rip-roaring ensemble multimedia extravaganza "One of Our Clowns is Missing" that recently headlined Freerange at Brighton Fringe Festival May 2010 with a sell-out run. If you missed a chance to pick one up at a live show, you can get one right here, right now.

The design is by our wonderfully talented friends at Buena Vista Tattoo Club in Bavaria (www.buenavistatattooclub.de) who specialise in "Realistic Trash Polka" art and tattoos. We love their work so much we knew we needed them to design our next shirt. So here it is, we hope you like it as much as we do. It's what all the best dressed klowns are wearing this season, don'tcha know!

and here is Dave doing his very best "catalogue man" pose.

We also have ladies fit shirts. All shirts are heavyweight, 100% cotton, with a three colour print, designed to be soft and flexible on the shirt and keep any cracking of the print to an absolute minimum.

Some of our sizes have already sold out but we are expecting a new order shortly. We currently have men's shirts L-XXXL. We also have ladies fit shirts XS-XL.

PLEASE NOTE: we will be unable to ship items between 14th and 21st June as we will be out of the country. Any items purchased between these dates will be posted on the 22nd June.

HERE ARE THE LINKS TO BUY SHIRTS. They are all on ebay so if links don't work, just search ebay for "fire tusk pain proof circus" and you're away.

Lucifire does not currently exist as a solo entity. Lucifire is nostril-deep in Fire Tusk Pain Proof Circus dealings: painting scenery, rehearsing, filming, script writing and making lots of exciting posts on the circus facebook page. I know not everyone here is a fan of my circus. What's wrong with ...you people? It's all the glory of Lucifire (it's my goddamn circus y'know, well mine and The Tusk's) plus the added wonder of extra added freaks, hand picked cream of the crop. Go add us right now on myspace or facebook

I cannot express how excited i am about these Brighton shows. We have such an amazing team and the show is going to be the best yet. Anyone who thinks they know what we do and has only seen our duo shows... forget it. Even those that saw Glastonbury Big Top show last year will have a bucket load of surprises, it's grown exponentially, from an hour long circus cabaret to a big production, multi-media, bells and whistles headline show. Less than 2 weeks to go!

The Fire Tusk Pain Proof Circus Headlines Brighton Fringe Festival
International circus comes to Freerange

This week, The Fire Tusk Pain Proof Circus have confirmed as a headline act for the Brighton Fringe Festival. The circus will present their biggest ever show, One of Our Clowns is Missing at Freerange a unique temporary structure running from 1 – 8 May 2010.

A scorching production of terrifying stunts and grotesque gags One of Our Clowns is Missing draws on the continuum of circus and freak show, creating a richly imagined and horribly plausible parallel universe.

With a cast of human oddities The Fire Tusk Pain Proof Circus combine neo-cabaret, performance art, fetish and burlesque, to create a fragmented, twenty first century, acid soaked, apocalyptic, vision of the future. In 2009, The Fire Tusk Pain Proof Circus headlined Glastonbury Festival’s Circus Big Top with a show that firmly stuck two fingers up at the field’s family friendly tradition and established new links between the Circus Field and Trash City.

One of Our Clowns is Missing stars Lucifire as the whip-cracking Ring Mistress alongside her loyal, snarling monster-pet The Pain Proof Tusk. Big Grey as the Voodoo Master, The Baron as the Dandy Strongman and Fancy Chance (reigning Miss Alternative World) as the Hapless Usherette. Featuring a company of twenty gleefully macabre clowns, playfully dynamite juggling, chainsaw wielding and aerial hair hanging, the show evokes memories of The Pilo Family Circus, a novel by Will Elliott, and Todd Browings’ 1932 film Freaks.

Performances are nightly from 10:00 PM – 12:30 AM, Saturday 1st – Saturday 8th May 2010 at Freerange, St Peter's Church Gardens, London Road, BN1 4GU.

Director of Future Tents, Robin Collings, said:

“I am a modern circus addict. I believe that New British Circus is culturally important and is under-rated internationally. Earlier this year I flew out to see Archaos’ new show and it made me think UK circus really rocks! I want to show the world how cutting edge and high quality New British Circus can be. The Fire Tusk Pain Proof Circus are all of these things and I know that audiences are going to be affected by this show. That’s what Freerange is all about.”

Bizarre Magazine, said:

“If you’re after a sophisticated, safe and heart warming performance don’t go and see the Fire Tusk Pain Proof Circus. If, however, you’re in the business for a thrill seeking, blood thirsty, fire breathing, whip cracking, head fuck of a show then go see these guys. Go now! Run!”

I am far away in Switzerland so will not be able to go see this incredible show. However, I strongly urge any and all that can make it, to go see book your tickets now for The Crack. I can vouch for many of the acts and Miss Behave has impeccable taste. How often does this show come to Leicester (answer: never before, so what you waiting for?)

Prepare to be amazed and entertained with an absolutely stellar cast of comic geniuses and variety virtuosos. Celebrating all that is funny, diverse and truly original in live comic entertainment.

A sell out smash at the E4 Comedy festival on Londons Southbank and the climax to the Bulmers Comedy festival, Dublin.

Acts include Nina Conti, Henning Wehn, Miss Behave, Woody Bop Muddy, Paul Morocco to name a few.

Remember those gorgeous shots i've been posting up recently by Matilda Temperley? Well she's taking pics next week for upcoming Circus photo exhibition at The Roundhouse this spring.

she's great to work with and while i was a teeny bit reluctant to share her around, i owe it to her to pass this on. give her a go and i'm sure you'll be glad you did.

see her note attached below.

Hey guys,
Hope you are well. Just wanted to say that I am having an open studio
for circus performers and dancers the week starting the 6th of feb.
The new studio is AMAZING its completely white and clean and airy and
warm with huge make up desks etc. Anyway I was wondering if you could
put the word out to any performers that you think maybe interested in
coming and having their pictures taken as part of the Circus
exhibition. All will get copies etc. Anyway I will basically be in
there all week with make up artists, stylists, different performers
etc etc and hope it will be a busy bustling and fun week. I imagine
you guys are away already but would love it if you could spread the
word
love T x

Priority mission here...

Channel 4 are running their 100 Greatest Standups vote again. Back in 2006, they ran this vote

"The vote will be open until 23:59 on the 29th of January 2010 (that’s tomorrow!). You can vote as many times as you like,
and you can select up to 10 comedians per submission."

I think you can vote for Bill 10 times should you wish so please vote right now and email everyone you know this link!
